What Youll Be Doing (position summary):
The Application Consultant is responsible for leading the planning, technical design, and development of complex, enterprise-scale applications. By leveraging a strong understanding of business dynamics, this role conducts impact analysis, recommends solutions, and ensures seamless integration of applications. The incumbent is responsible for assembling, implementing, and maintaining flexible, personalized solutions that enhance the client experience and align with CIBCs digital transformation strategy and business objectives.

How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):
Programming Skills:
- Leads the technical delivery of multiple, concurrent enterprise-scale projects within Finance Technology, ensuring alignment with project objectives and organizational standards.
- Designs, develops, and implements end-to-end application solutions by writing efficient, maintainable code, and adhering to best practices throughout the development lifecycle using COBOL,SAS,JCL,DB2.
- Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems to optimize performance, including hands-on coding, comprehensive testing, and effective debugging to ensure robust and reliable solutions.
Systems Implementation:
- Participates in and conducts technical design, development, and integration of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems, ensuring seamless interoperability and alignment with business needs.
Troubleshooting and Technical Skills:
- Work closely with key business and technology partners to ensure that business and client impact issues are well understood and addressed.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory and information security standards and policies are maintained in all aspects of the application management.
- Provide technical guidance concerning business implications of application development projects
Relationship Management:
- Builds and nurtures strong relationships and partnerships with technical team members, clients, vendors, and peers to promote effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Leads discussions, actively listens, and asks insightful questions to identify and resolve issues promptly and efficiently.
- Communicates verbally at an advanced level, ensuring that tone, style, and structure are appropriate for the audience and situation.
- Collaborates with business stakeholders, project managers, and technology teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives.
- Engages with operations teams to ensure integrated, compliant, and seamless application delivery.
- Partners with external vendors and technology partners to support project implementation and ongoing system enhancements.
- As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.
- As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Experience: 7+ years of experience
Who You Are (skills/qualifications):
Must Have Skills:
- 7+ years experience in JCL, COBOL,SAS and DB2 ,CA7 Scheduler, SFTP File transfers tools
- Strong understanding of structured Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) and ETL
- Advanced application development and technical leadership skills in Mainframe Environments.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and strategic planning capabilities.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring abilities.
- Client-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
