Background Artist–2D Animation

Key Responsibilities

• Create 2D backgrounds, environments and locations for animated TV shows.
• Design interiors, exteriors, landscapes and other scene environments based on the show's visual style.
• Work closely with Storyboard Artists, Directors and Animators to develop backgrounds as per scene requirements.
• Maintain consistency in perspective, scale, colours, lighting and visual style across episodes.
• Create background layouts and assets required for animation production.
• Make revisions based on creative feedback and production requirements.
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality artwork as per production schedules.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience as a Background Artist/Environment Artist in 2D animation.
• Strong drawing, perspective and environment-design skills.
• Good understanding of composition, lighting, colour and depth.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, TVPaint, or similar software.
• Ability to follow an established art style and maintain consistency.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within deadlines.
• Portfolio/showreel is mandatory.

Experience in 2D animated TV shows, kids' animation or episodic content will be preferred.
