About the Role

Galaxy Weblinks is seeking a highly experienced .NET Architect Consultant to conduct comprehensive technical assessments across diverse project ecosystems. You will evaluate existing enterprise application architectures, database structures, performance bottlenecks, and DevOps/cloud setups to deliver strategic recommendations for reuse, modernization, or rebuilds.

Key Responsibilities

• Application Architecture & Modernization
• Assess current .NET codebases, technology stacks, and application structures for refactoring, reuse, or migration feasibility.
• Evaluate technical risks, dependencies, and engineering ROI when comparing existing .NET architectures against modern stack options (e.g., Cloudflare, TypeScript).
• Provide objective, business-justified guidance on retain vs. rebuild vs. migrate strategies.

• Database Architecture & Performance
• Review relational schemas, query efficiency, stored procedures, and data growth patterns.

• Assess current SQL Server environments against modern alternatives like PostgreSQL to ensure future scalability and cost efficiency.
• Architect long-term solutions for core performance indexing, ensuring systems handle high-volume workloads without requiring future re-engineering.

• DevOps, Cloud & Infrastructure
• Evaluate CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, monitoring, and cloud configurations (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Identify infrastructure bottlenecks and recommend scalable solutions for operational reliability, logging, and observability.

Required Skills & Experience

• Core Technical: 15+ years in software engineering with deep expertise in .NET Core, C#, Web/REST APIs, and distributed microservices architectures.
• Database & Cloud: Advanced proficiency in SQL Server or major relational databases; strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), CI/CD, and modern DevOps.
• Strategic Assessment: Proven track record conducting legacy codebase reviews, technical risk analyses, and build vs. buy/rebuild evaluations.
• Nice to Have: Hands-on exposure to PostgreSQL migrations, Cloudflare edge technologies, TypeScript, or enterprise performance monitoring tools.

Key Deliverables

You will deliver a consolidated Architecture Assessment & Modernization Roadmap covering:

• Current-state evaluation of the application, database, and DevOps infrastructure.
• Gap and risk analysis around scalability, performance indexing, and technical debt.
• Objective platform comparisons (e.g., .NET vs. emerging stacks; SQL vs. PostgreSQL) with ROI and effort estimates.
• Final future-state architecture recommendations and high-level execution strategy.
