Piping Supervisor

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Piping Supervisor to oversee and coordinate piping fabrication, installation, testing, and related activities at our project site or fabrication yard.

The Piping Supervisor will ensure that all piping activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable industry codes, quality standards, and approved procedures. The role will lead piping crews, coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, Planning, Procurement, HSE, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives, and support the timely completion of piping deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervision and Execution of Piping Works:

• Supervise piping fabrication, fit-up, welding, erection, and installation activities.
• Ensure piping works are executed in accordance with IFC drawings, project specifications, approved procedures, and applicable standards.
• Monitor daily work progress and ensure activities are completed according to schedule and required quality standards.
• Allocate manpower, tools, equipment, and other resources based on project priorities.
• Identify and resolve technical and construction-related issues associated with piping activities.
• Provide clear work instructions to piping crews and monitor execution in the field.

2. Coordination and Communication:

• Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, Planning, Procurement, and HSE departments to ensure efficient execution of piping activities.
• Liaise with subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives regarding inspections, approvals, work clearances, and technical matters.
• Participate in daily coordination meetings and provide updates on progress, constraints, manpower, materials, and resource requirements.
• Ensure effective communication of project requirements and work instructions to piping personnel.

3. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Ensure piping fabrication and installation activities comply with applicable codes and standards, including ASME, API, and project-specific requirements.
• Verify piping materials, fittings, valves, spools, and related components prior to installation.
• Coordinate and support QA/QC activities involving fit-up inspections, welding inspections, dimensional checks, and pressure testing.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, identification, and preservation of piping materials.
• Monitor welding activities and ensure welding is performed by qualified personnel in accordance with approved procedures.
• Identify quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with the relevant departments.

4. Safety and Worksite Management:

• Enforce company and project HSE requirements during all piping activities.
• Conduct and participate in toolbox talks and ensure workers understand job hazards and required control measures.
• Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, lifting equipment, and other worksite resources.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with piping installation, hot work, lifting operations, and confined-space activities.
• Promote a strong safety culture among piping crews and subcontractors.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

• Read, review, and interpret P&IDs, piping isometric drawings, GA drawings, material lists, and project specifications.
• Maintain accurate daily progress reports, manpower records, material consumption records, and installation status reports.
• Prepare or coordinate work permits, inspection requests, and other required construction documentation.
• Track spool deliveries, fabrication and installation status, outstanding work, and punch-list items.
• Support preparation and updating of as-built documentation as required.

6. Testing and Commissioning Support:

• Coordinate hydrostatic, pneumatic, leak testing, and related piping test activities with QA/QC and commissioning teams.
• Ensure piping test packages are complete and supported by the required drawings, inspection records, certificates, and other documentation.
• Coordinate flushing, cleaning, reinstatement, and system turnover activities.
• Support the resolution and close-out of testing-related punch-list items.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in piping supervision within construction, fabrication, or oil and gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of piping systems, fabrication and installation practices, welding processes, piping materials, and relevant industry codes.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, piping isometric drawings, GA drawings, IFC drawings, and project specifications.
• Experience supervising multicultural workforces and subcontractors.
• Practical knowledge of hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, commissioning, flushing, cleaning, and system reinstatement.
• Strong understanding of QA/QC requirements applicable to piping fabrication and installation.
• Good communication, coordination, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a project site or fabrication-yard environment.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, EPC, or industrial fabrication projects.
• Familiarity with ASME and API codes and project-specific piping standards.
• Experience coordinating with clients, third-party inspectors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience with piping test packages, punch-list management, system turnover, and commissioning support.
