Job Description
We’re looking for a creative short-form writer to work on a content project for a leading consumer
\nbrand.
\nThe work will primarily involve comedy, sketches and relatable everyday situations, but we’re
\nlooking for someone with a strong overall understanding of writing and storytelling.
\nSomeone who can write a funny sketch one day, an observational piece the next, and find an
\ninteresting way to tell a simple story in 30 seconds.
\nThe ability to make people laugh is important.
\nBut good writing comes first.
\nWhat you’ll be doing
\n- \n
- Writing short-form scripts for Reels, Shorts and other social platforms \n
- \n
- Developing comedy sketches, creative concepts and relatable situations \n
- \n
- Finding interesting ways to tell stories within 15–60 seconds \n
- \n
- Writing sharp setups, punches, callbacks and satisfying endings \n
- \n
- Creating strong premises that hook the viewer quickly \n
- \n
- Writing natural, conversational and performable dialogue \n
- \n
- Exploring different tones, from comedy and observation to emotion, relatability and storytelling \n
- \n
- Finding creative ways to integrate brand requirements without compromising the core idea \n
- \n
- Collaborating with the creative and production team through ideation, writing and revisions \n
The kind of writer we’re looking for
\nYou have a strong sense of comedy, but you’re not only a comedy writer.
\nYou understand why a joke works, when a punch should land, how to build an escalation and how to end a scene.
\nYou also understand character, conflict, emotion, observation and story.
\nYou can take a simple situation and find the interesting angle.
\nYou can make a viewer laugh, but you can also make them relate, feel something or simply think,
\n“That is so true.”
\nAnd most importantly, you know how to tell a story fast.
\nBecause when you only have 30 seconds, every line, beat and reaction has to earn its place.
\nMust have
\n- \n
- Previous experience writing short-form video content \n
- \n
- Strong overall writing and storytelling skills \n
- \n
- Strong understanding of comedy, sketches and social media storytelling \n
- \n
- A sharp sense of punches, timing, pacing and payoff \n
- \n
- Ability to write concise, engaging and natural dialogue \n
- \n
- Ability to develop stories and ideas that work within 15–60 seconds \n
- \n
- Strong command of conversational English/Hinglish \n
- \n
- Ability to write across different tones and formats \n
- \n
- Comfort with feedback, rewrites and collaborative writing \n
- \n
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong short-form writing \n
Bonus points if you
\n- \n
- Have written comedy for Reels, Shorts or digital creators \n
- \n
- Have written sketches, branded content or social campaigns \n
- \n
- Have experience writing for actors and performers \n
- \n
- Understand visual storytelling and physical comedy \n
- \n
- Regularly consume and analyse short-form content \n
- \n
- Can generate multiple creative ideas from a single brief \n
- \n
- Know how to make a brand requirement feel like part of the story rather than an interruption \n
Who should apply?
\nIf you think short-form is just about writing a few funny lines, this probably isn't for you.
\nIf you understand that even a 30-second video can have a premise, character, conflict, escalation
\nand payoff, we'd love to hear from you.
\nExperience: 1–4 years preferred, but exceptional writers with strong work samples are welcome to
\napply.
\nTo apply
\nPlease share your CV and 5–7 short-form scripts you have written. Published video links are
\npreferred wherever available.
\nEngagement: Full-time
\nLocation: Delhi NCR preferred. Writers from other cities are welcome to apply, provided they are
\nopen to relocating to Delhi NCR for the role.
